KHAYELITSHA – The police arrested a pastor in Khayelitsha following allegations that he raped three congregants under the pretense of healing them. The victims were aged 15, 22 and 23.
The accused pastor allegedly manipulated the victims by convincing them that sexual intercourse with him would bring healing. Many of his congregants sought help for personal struggles, unaware of his intentions.
“He would tell them healing is possible, but they must stay at the church,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, “That is where he convinced them to engage in sexual acts to receive their healing.”
Community Outrage Leads to Investigation
The victims, aged 15, 22, and 23, were allegedly assaulted and raped at his church between November 2022 and January 2025.
Subsequently, the residents of Khayelitsha grew suspicious after noticing unusual behavior among some congregants. Their concerns prompted a community-led meeting where victims found the courage to share their experiences.

The revelations sparked widespread outrage. Community leaders have called for stricter regulations on religious institutions to prevent similar cases.

Authorities took action after multiple victims came forward with disturbing claims against the 51-year-old pastor. Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg also confirmed that the pastor had been arrested, stating that officers from the Khayelitsha Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit apprehended the suspect.
The survivors are reported to be safe and receiving treatment and counseling.
Legal Proceedings Underway
The accused pastor appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court, facing multiple charges of sexual assault and rape. The court remanded the case until February 4, 2025.
Authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward. Police continue their investigation to ensure justice for the victims.
