The South African Police Service (SAPS) has successfully recovered a truckload of stolen goods following a hijacking in Virginia. The incident occurred on the evening of February 1, 2025, around 7:30 PM. A 38-year-old truck driver parked his vehicle on the N5 road near Winburg to relieve himself when two armed suspects confronted him. The hijackers, both masked and speaking Zulu, threatened the driver at gunpoint, demanding that he cooperate.
One of the suspects covered the driver’s head with a bag, while the other drove off with the truck, which was carrying Nestlé products, including popular brands like Ricoffy and Milo. After the hijacking, the victim was abandoned near the R34 road in Odendaalsrus while the suspects fled with the truck.
