Enoch Ndou has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the Christmas Day massacre that left seven family members dead in Limpopo.
A Limpopo court has sentenced convicted murderer Enoch Ndou to life imprisonment. Additionally, 90 years for the fatal shooting of seven family members on Christmas Day in 2021.
The 55-year-old nurse was found guilty of killing his relatives. This happened during a dispute over their late father’s home in Jimmy Jones Village, Malamulele. Judge Thogomelani Tshidada of the Thohoyandou High Court delivered the sentence on Friday. He condemned Ndou’s actions as a brutal and senseless act of violence.
Among the victims were Mpho Donald Ndou, 33, Ndivhuwo Douglas Ndou, 33, Portia Mabasa, 37, and three children: Rendani Winnus Ndou, 12, Ronewa Ndou, 4, and Wanga Ndou, 12 months old. An eighth victim, 8-year-old Dakalo Makondo Ndou, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
During sentencing, Judge Tshidada emphasized Ndou’s lack of remorse. He stated that he never attempted to apologize to the surviving family members. The court determined that he had no history of violent behavior or mental illness but acted deliberately.
“The 15-year imprisonment sentences imposed on counts two to seven are to run concurrently. This is alongside the life imprisonment sentence imposed on count one,” Tshidada said. “The accused is therefore sentenced to an effective sentence of life imprisonment.”
The court also ruled that Ndou is unfit to own or possess a firearm under Section 103(1) of the Firearms Control Act.
The massacre has left the local community in shock, with many struggling to come to terms with the scale of the tragedy.
