A gunshot occurred in the parking lot of a shopping complex on Sandown Road in Parklands on Saturday, prompting the response of South African Police Service (SAPS) officers.
SAPS officers investigate Parklands shooting of foreign national
Police discovered a 55-year-old guy sitting in the front passenger seat of a car with a gunshot wound. At the scene, the victim—a foreign national from Mauritius—was pronounced dead. Someone had stolen his cell phone.

In a statement, SAPS stated that “the public is urged not to post images of the crime scene on social media as the murder investigation is still ongoing.”
According to Iol, Imaan Syms, 30, was shot and killed on Sussex Street in Woodstock earlier this month. The community was shocked as the unidentified suspect left the scene.
Police urge public to avoid sharing crime scene images online
When Woodstock police arrived to a shooting complaint, they discovered Syms’ dead with several gunshot wounds, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg.
“Reports indicate the victim was approached by an unknown suspect who shot her before fleeing the scene,” Twigg said. “The victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.”
No one has been arrested, and police have not yet identified a motive for the attack. Authorities encourage anyone with knowledge to come forward as they continue their investigation into the murder.
Ziyaad Williams, the proprietor of the D Six Hanover Minstrels and a well-known member of the Minstrel Fraternity, was Syms’ father. Tributes to Syms, who was remembered as a kind and compassionate person, have been abundant on social media.
