The victim, who sustained three gunshot wounds to the head, sat in the lobby outside a courtroom. Eyewitnesses reported that the alleged gunmen arrived in a white Toyota Quantum. They entered the court building and walked up to the victim before opening fire.
Chaos Erupts in Court Corridors
As soon as the shots rang out, panic swept through the court’s corridors. People inside scrambled for safety. Many dove to the ground to protect themselves. The gunmen, having carried out the attack with apparent ease, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The gunmen left the building in disarray, and witnesses reacted in fear.

Authorities now suspect gang members carried out the shooting. However, the exact motive remains unclear. Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the event. He stated that police had opened a murder case for investigation.
“Wynberg police have registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident at the court in Church Road, Wynberg, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his body. Medical personnel declared him deceased on the scene,” Twigg said.
