The women were sleeping when unknown assailants broke into their home around 9 p.m. The suspects opened fire, killing both victims.
The police have launched an intense manhunt to find the perpetrators. Captain Namhla Mdleleni confirmed the ongoing investigation and urged the public to come forward with any information.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
No arrests yet, investigation ongoing
Authorities are working diligently to piece together the events of that night. Investigators are looking into whether the attack was premeditated, considering that the victims were asleep at the time of the invasion.
Police are also working to determine if there are any links between the suspects and the victims.
“The motive for the killing is not yet established and forms part of the investigation,” said Captain Mdleleni.
The police are reviewing any available surveillance footage and conducting interviews with local witnesses in the hope of gaining further insight into the crime.
As the investigation continues, the local community is shaken by the brutality of the attack. The provincial government has pledged to increase security measures in the region to ensure the safety of residents.
Another deadly shooting raises alarm in Eastern Cape
The double murder in Dulasile follows another fatal shooting in the region. On March 10, 2025, a man named Bulelani Dayile was killed during a robbery at his home in KwaMaqoma Township.
Armed assailants stormed his house and shot him while he sat in his kitchen.
Police arrested six suspects in connection to this crime, recovering a stolen firearm and ammunition.
This incident, along with the double murder, highlights the increasing concerns over violent crime in Eastern Cape.
Authorities are under pressure to address the rising violence and provide greater security for residents.
In response, the Borno government has committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies to improve public safety and reduce crime in the region.
The government is also focusing on preventing future crimes by implementing stricter measures and supporting local law enforcement efforts.
