Deputy Minister Speaks on Missing Journalist Aserie Ndlovu

Aserie Sibusiso Ndlovu the community radio journalist as well as Zodwa Precious Mdhluli have been missing since February 18, 2025 which prompted Deputy Minister in the Presidency Kenny Morolong to view this incident as “an attack on media freedom and democracy.”

Two months have passed since Ndlovu and Mdhluli disappeared on February 18, 2025. Deputy Minister in the Presidency Kenny Morolong met with Mpumalanga family members on Sunday while interacting with police to discuss the well-performing investigation.

Gauteng and Mpumalanga law enforcement work together

Law enforcement agencies from both Gauteng and Mpumalanga claim to collaborate in the investigation which explains the advancement made so far. The situation fills Morolong with positive feelings. Police officials show their competence by receiving support from the families in their attempt to solve the case.

At Morolong’s meeting with Ndlovu family members and Mdhluli, he established both the state’s dedication to the case and support for press freedoms. The media freedom of our society faces direct attack from this particular event. When freedom of the media faces threats it directly undermines the principles of our democratic system under the constitution. He declared that the media would never be subjected to harassment by the press.

Customers lost the trail of Capital Live FM founder Ndlovu after he disappeared from Pretoria where he last appeared. His circumstances of disappearance remain unknown. The authorities have not stopped searching for the couple since their last confirmed whereabouts dated February 18.

The Deputy Minister expressed remarks that matched existing concerns about journalist safety in South Africa. The Deputy Minister explained his stance as saying that media organizations should actively express strong statements regarding any incidents diminishing their previously acquired media freedom progress.

As the investigative process goes on public interest groups with press advocacy missions are demanding full transparency and prompt investigation to locate the missing journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Precious Mdhluli.
