Eastern Cape Shooting Suspects Sought by Police After Ngcobo Massacre

NGCOBO, South Africa — Police in the Eastern Cape are urging the public to help locate two suspects involved in a brutal mass shooting in Mangweni, near Dalasile in Ngcobo. The attack left three people dead and two others injured.

Attack During Mourning Leaves Three Dead

Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, spokesperson for the Eastern Cape police, confirmed that two unidentified gunmen attacked a group of five family members at their home. They had gathered to mourn a deceased relative. The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

“Three victims, aged between 30 and 50, died from gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, two others, aged 50 and 70, suffered injuries and were rushed to a local hospital,” Nkohli said. “Police have not yet determined the motive. However, they are actively following all possible leads.”

Authorities identified the deceased as:

  • Cebisile Ngqwangele, 39
  • Zukile Ngqwangele, 50
  • Zimisele Ngqutwana, 30

Serious Crimes Unit Launches Investigation

The Eastern Cape Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit opened three murder cases and two attempted murder cases. Acting Provincial Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Thandiswa Kupiso said police have mobilized a team of experienced detectives.

“We are deploying every available resource to track the suspects and bring them to justice,” Kupiso said. She also appealed to the community to provide any information that could help solve the case involving the Eastern Cape shooting suspects.
