Two elderly sisters, aged 75 and 85, lost their lives early Tuesday morning. Armed intruders stormed their home in Upper Ncera, a rural community near Alice in the Eastern Cape.
Lieutenant Siphokazi Mawisa, the provincial police spokesperson, said the women were fast asleep when the attack occurred.
Unknown suspects forcefully broke into their four-roomed house. Then, they shot the sisters multiple times.
Officers responded swiftly. However, they found both victims already dead with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

The brutal killings outraged many residents and law enforcement officials. As a result, Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Thandiswa Kupiso strongly condemned the attack.
She described the murders as a cruel act against vulnerable citizens. “Violence against women, children, and the elderly is unacceptable,” she declared.
“The SAPS remains committed to protecting the vulnerable and holding offenders accountable.”
Investigators began searching immediately for the suspects. Despite the urgency, police have not yet found any solid leads. Nevertheless, they remain determined to solve the case.
