Gunman Kills Three Women in Lusikisiki Homestead Attack

LUSIKISIKI, EASTERN CAPE – A gunman stormed a homestead and killed three women in the crime-ravaged Lusikisiki area on Thursday night. Consequently, the brutal attack has left the community in shock as police intensify efforts to track down the suspect.

Masked Gunman Executes Deadly Attack

Around 10 p.m., a balaclava-clad man forcefully entered a home in Sitshayelo and opened fire. Before breaking in, he reportedly used a local man to knock on the door, deceiving the occupants into opening it.

Once inside, he immediately called out a 33-year-old woman by name. As soon as two other women, aged 44 and 69, responded, he fired multiple shots, instantly killing them.

Without hesitation, the attacker proceeded to another room where the youngest victim had been hiding. Tragically, he shot and killed her before fleeing the scene.

Police Strongly Condemn the Murders

Reacting to the incident, OR Tambo District police commissioner Major-General Norman Modishana strongly condemned the killings. He described the attacker as a “heartless individual who has no value for human life.”

“We will not rest until we arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” he vowed.

Investigation Intensifies

As police launch an aggressive manhunt, investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack. Authorities are urging the public to assist in identifying the suspect.

“We appeal to anyone who can provide information about the perpetrators to come forward,” said police spokesperson Captain Welile Matyolo.

For tip-offs, police have provided the following contacts: Colonel Kufa at 082 302 5118 or 083 427 9656, Lieutenant Sitsha at 082 442 2714 or (039) 253 1350, and Crime Stop at 08600 10111. Additionally, authorities assure that callers may remain anonymous.

Wave of Violence in Lusikisiki

Unfortunately, this attack follows another deadly incident in Lusikisiki. On September 28, gunmen killed 18 people in Ngobozana village. Police arrested eight suspects, whose trial is set to begin on March 10.

Community Demands Urgent Action

With violent crime increasing, Lusikisiki residents are calling on law enforcement to strengthen security and ensure justice. Many fear for their safety, demanding immediate intervention.

As the investigation progresses, police remain determined to track down the suspects and restore peace in Lusikisiki.
