According to IOL, police responded to a distress call at 12:05 a.m. on Algoa Road near Swartkops Bridge. Officers discovered the unidentified man lying motionless with visible burn injuries. They also recovered a hacksaw, a knife, and a backpack near his body.
Authorities Seek to Identify the Deceased
Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, a police spokesperson, confirmed the details of the incident. “On arrival, officers found an unidentified man who had been electrocuted. Evidence suggests he attempted to steal copper cables before the fatal shock,” she said.
Investigators estimate the man’s age to be between 25 and 30 years. He was wearing blue pants and a dark blue jacket at the time of the incident. Authorities are now working to locate his family and confirm his identity.
