According to authorities, a guy who was discovered in possession of a police uniform is scheduled to appear in court on Monday in relation to the murder of a 31-year-old lady, among other crimes.
Tip-off leads to murder suspect’s arrest in Eastern Cape
According to police spokesperson Capt. Welile Matyolo, a 30-year-old suspect from Ludiwana village in Flagstaff’s Nkozo administrative district was apprehended by police on Saturday after a tip led to the woman’s death on Friday.
Three illegal firearms were found, according to Matyolo: two revolvers without serial numbers and a 9mm handgun with a complete serial number.
According to Timeslive, the 9mm handgun was stolen in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, according to the results of an initial investigation. Police discovered elements of a police uniform, including grey shirts, police belts, caps, and field dress pants, when the suspect led them to the Ludiwana neighborhood.
Authorities investigate how suspect obtained police gear
Investigators are still working to find out how the suspect got the uniform and apprehend other people who may have been involved in the murder.
The suspect faces charges of murder, unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property. He is expected to appear in Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Officers’ efforts to apprehend offenders were commended by OR Tambo District Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Norman Modishana.
“To ensure that justice is done, we will stop at nothing in our investigations to apprehend everyone responsible for the victim’s horrific murder,” Modishana declared.
