Community Tip-Off Leads To Arrest In Free State Rape, Murder Case

Botshabelo residents successfully reported the 35-year-old suspect responsible for a vicious rape and murder crime to authorities which led to an arrest.

A police task force from Botshabelo intercepted the suspect who tried to run away from law enforcement during the evening of February 24 based upon citizen information.

Community tip-off leads to arrest

Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli of the police force disclosed that police took action based on intelligence about a questionable vehicle spotted in Section F. The police found the suspect after he had been riding as a passenger in the vehicle.

A 35-year-old suspect now waits in police custody because the Botshabelo Task Team effectively carried out this arrest related to a rape and murder case investigation according to Kareli.

Two-day ordeal ends in tragedy

According to authorities the victim endured multiple sexual assaults from the suspect while he held her for two days in E Section of Botshabelo. His other crime involved stabbing with a knife a 34-year-old woman who attempted to escape after drinking his wine.

During the pursuit the suspect tried to run away from police control in Botshabelo until law enforcement officers intercepted him before his successful departure.

The person accused of rape and murder must appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday according to the current legal schedule.
