KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police conducted a shootout with four suspects which resulted in their deaths during Tuesday night. At least three murder cases involving two double homicides had linked the suspects to Inanda.
Shootout with police and fatal outcome
The M4 Highway in Umlazi became the scene of a police gun battle after officers followed a lead to the suspects’ location according to KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshuinda. Suspects initiated gunfire against police officers who approached them when both parties met at a mall within Umlazi.
Four suspects killed as the police defended themselves and other road users by firing back which resulted in their fatal wounding. The gun battle resulted in no physical harm to the police officers.
Suspects linked to multiple murders
Three separate murders that included two double murders took place in the Inanda area during March and April 2025 linking the four suspects to them. The police seized three firearms from the suspects throughout the incident.
Four suspects killed, paramedics confirm fatalities
ALS Paramedics reached the scene of the shooting less than two hours following 6 pm. The medical team located the four victims who received multiple bullet injuries after reaching the location. The paramedics who tried to assess the men had to declare their deaths on the scene itself.
