Seven weeks have been postponed for the case against claimed 28s gang boss Ralph Stanfield, his wife Nicole Johnson, former Cape Town Human Settlements MMC Malusi Booi, and 26 others.
Court postpones case for seven weeks investigation
While some offenders joined by video link from prison, others showed up personally in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Friday.
Among the more than fifty grave allegations they face are those related to murder, fraud, corruption, and money laundering. The indictment now includes also Kyle Stanfield, the younger brother of Ralph Stanfield, and Barbara Johnson, mother of Nicole Johnson.
According to EWN, the murder accusations relate to the 2019 murder of former Hard Livings gang boss Rashied Staggie and the February 2023 murder of City of Cape Town official Wendy Kloppers.
Prosecution examines electronic devices, over a hundred bank statements
Prosecutors asked for the delay so they could finish their probe. The State told the court it still has to review more than 100 bank statements. Furthermore included among various technological gadgets are computers, tablets, and cell phones with documents needing downloading and inspection.
The matter has been delayed until March 20 so the State may wrap up its inquiry.Â
