Disturbing video footage showing men being sexually and physically assaulted by bouncers at Zanzou nightclub in Pretoria has gone viral on social media this week.
The graphic content has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for justice and accountability.
The videos, which appear to have been recorded inside the club, show victims being humiliated and assaulted by security personnel, raising serious questions about the club’s management and oversight.
In the wake of the leak, a man identifying himself as “Pablo” on TikTok claimed responsibility for releasing the videos.
He further alleged that he possesses more evidence, including proof of deaths linked to the nightclub. In a series of TikTok posts, Pablo vowed to expose the truth, stating, “I will post each video and I’ll give details, all the proof, all the pictures, and all the confirmation so you guys can see everything.”
He also claimed that his life was under threat, saying, “I know those people are looking for me, they promised to kill me, they promised to do some bad things to me — but you guys must know I will do what is right. I’m going to expose all the sh*t“. Pablo’s testimony has been deemed crucial by law enforcement.
National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that authorities are actively searching for him. “We are looking for him. We are after all leads. We have been engaging people who have been assisting us with this case, and we are trying to get hold of him,” Mathe said in an interview with Radio 702.
She also urged Pablo to come forward, emphasizing that his cooperation could be vital to the investigation.
Zanzou nightclub responds
Zanzou nightclub has acknowledged the incident, stating that an internal investigation led to the dismissal of the security employee allegedly responsible for the abuse. However, the club’s response has been criticised for failing to report the matter to the police.
Brigadier Mathe questioned the club’s handling of the situation, stating, “It seems the bouncers and the management were involved in this incident at the time, but we also know the owners have issued a statement saying they were aware and that’s why they dismissed the security company.
“However, the question is: why did they sweep it under the carpet? Why sit on such information and not bring it to the attention of the police?”
Mathe further emphasized that as a responsible business, Zanzou should have reported the incident to authorities immediately.
“With such an establishment, you’d think that as a responsible business owner, they would come forward and bring this matter to our attention,” she added.
