The South African Police Service appealed for help in locating three constables who mysteriously disappeared while traveling to Limpopo province.
SAPS national spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said the missing officers included two women and one man traveling together.
Mathe identified the missing constables as 24-year-old Cebekhulu Linda, 30-year-old Keamogetswe Buys, and 20-year-old Boipelo Senoge.
They traveled in a white Volkswagen Polo sedan from Bloemfontein toward their deployment area in Limpopo when they vanished suddenly.
Full-scale search operation underway for missing officers
According to IOL, Mathe said the trio’s last known location was at Engen fuel station near Grasmere toll plaza on the N1 highway.
She confirmed that shortly after their disappearance on Wednesday, their vehicle tracking device and cellphones stopped working.
A venue operational center was established within 24 hours, and a high-level team launched a full-scale search operation immediately.
Crime intelligence operators and detectives from Gauteng and Free State provinces have been mobilized to support the urgent search effort.
Police confirmed the officers were off duty at the time and never arrived at their area of assignment in Limpopo.
Authorities urged anyone with information to contact Captain Chaacha Manga at 082 527 6099 to assist the investigation.
Broader concern grows as journalist couple remains missing
The SAPS is also investigating a possible case of hijacking and kidnapping linked to the officers’ mysterious disappearance.
National police commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, appealed to the public for urgent assistance in locating the missing trio safely.
Meanwhile, concerns remain high over missing journalist Sibusiso Aserie Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Precious Mdhluli from Pretoria.
Chairperson Elijah Mhlanga of the African Media and Communicators Forum said the couple has been missing since February 18.
The National Press Club and the African Media and Communicators Forum offered a reward of R50,000 for useful information.
The families of Ndlovu and Mdhluli continue pleading with the public for any clues about their loved ones’ whereabouts.5
