Authorities in the Free State are investigating the death of an unidentified man who was found severely beaten with a sjambok in Bronville. Officers found the victim, believed to be in his twenties, unconscious in the street, and he later died in the hospital on March 12.
Discovery of the Victim
Police responded to a call reporting an assault near a house on Philander Street. When officers arrived, they discovered the man lying in the street, unconscious and with multiple marks from a sjambok on his face and body.
The Victim’s Description
“The victim, estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old, had suffered brutal injuries. Police Spokesperson Sergeant Palesa Thabana said, “They transported him to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive his wounds.” Thabana also provided a description of the victim. “The deceased is dark in complexion and was wearing a maroon T-shirt, a black suit, and grey-and-white sneakers found beside him.”
Ongoing Investigation
Despite the ongoing investigation, police have not made any arrests. Thabana added, “At this stage, we have no suspects. We continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.”
