Police Rescue Kidnapped Woman in Tshwane, Arrest Three Suspects

Police in Tshwane successfully rescued a 50-year-old woman who had been kidnapped and reported missing by her son.

The operation, which took place on Thursday, involved a coordinated effort by the Akasia and Ga-Rankuwa police, supported by the Crime Intelligence Unit, Tshwane Flying Squad, Bank Forensic Investigation, and the TMPD K9 Unit.

Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, a police spokesperson, confirmed that the woman had gone missing on March 31, 2025. H

er son’s report led investigators to uncover unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account, which ultimately guided them to a house in Karen Park.

Rescue and arrest of suspects

At the house, the police found the kidnapped woman and arrested two suspects. The victim was immediately given medical care and later reunited with her family.

Police also recovered a white Polo vehicle, which they believe was used in the kidnapping.

A third suspect was arrested later, bringing the total number of people arrested to three. The suspects, aged between 34 and 57, are expected to appear before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate Court.

Praise for swift police action

The leadership of Gauteng police commended the quick and effective response of the officers involved in the rescue operation.

“The Management of the police in Gauteng province commends the swift response of the members, which led to the successful rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspects,” Sibeko said.

The investigation into the kidnapping and unauthorized bank withdrawals is still ongoing.
