According to Prem Balram, spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the gunmen boarded the bus and immediately began shooting without warning or provocation.
No items were stolen during the incident, which authorities believe was a random and unprovoked attack.

The victims were transported to a hospital before law enforcement arrived. Sadly, the bus driver was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the medical facility.
Pregnant woman and conductor among the wounded
Alongside the driver, a bus conductor sustained injuries of unknown severity, and a 26-year-old pregnant woman seated nearby was also struck by a bullet.
She was not aboard the bus but sitting on the roadside at the time of the shooting.
