Hawks Arrest Woman Linked to Cape Town Brothel Trafficking

The Hawks caught and detained a 38-year-old woman at Durban due to her suspected operation of a human trafficking service in Cape Town.

Hawks arrest woman and Police brought in the suspect on Monday March 24 2025 through a combined effort of Durban Metro Police K9 Unit members.

Hawks arrest woman, multi-disciplinary operation leads to arrest

A joint team made up of George and Durban members conducted the operation. Their investigations started in September 2024. The investigators studied a brothel in Plumstead, Cape Town where they found evidence of people being bought and sold.

According to Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi five sex workers had sex work as a profession when officers raided the brothel.

Project employees discovered while checking the minor girl found that she had been taken advantage of by human traffickers. Social Development Department took immediate charge of the child.

Traffickers identified and arrested

The police team located two traffickers including the person arrested previously named Rogers Mubiru. The authorities found this woman with the warrants and arrested her while she was in Durban.

The Durban Magistrate Court will first hear her case on March 25, 2025 before moving her legal proceedings to Cape Town.

The court needs more time until April 17, 2025, to hear Mubiru’s bail application.
