A KwaZulu-Natal man lost his life in a desperate attempt to escape two robbers while on his way to a job interview in Phoenix, near Durban.
The unidentified man was attacked, robbed of his shoes and personal belongings, and, in a bid to escape, he jumped off a bridge onto a railway line.
Prem Balram, spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), said officers found the critically injured victim at around 7:30 a.m., barely able to move.
Witnesses confirmed that the man had been en route to an interview when he was attacked.
“He explained that he was robbed after he jumped and was too injured to defend himself,” Balram said. Tragically, he died before paramedics arrived.
