Provincial police spokesperson Col. Malesela Ledwaba said the incidents happened between 11:30 p.m. on Friday and 2 a.m. on Saturday. The suspects targeted seven households in what police believe was a carefully planned operation.

“The suspects, who carried firearms, broke into homes, demanded valuables, and committed violent crimes. These included the rape of children,” Ledwaba stated.

Police confirmed three separate rape cases. Two of the victims are girls aged 14 and 15. During one of the home invasions, suspects shot a man multiple times. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital, where he is currently receiving care.

Additionally, the suspects stole cash and mobile phones from the affected homes. Police also opened several other cases. These include assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and illegal firearm discharge.

Forensic teams responded immediately. They recovered multiple empty cartridges and other critical evidence at the crime scenes.
