Overview of the Stolen Vehicle’s Recovery
Police in Limpopo launched a manhunt for suspects after they recovered a stolen white Kia Picanto. Authorities found the vehicle abandoned near a graveyard in Moime Village on Sunday.
Tracking and Coordinated Efforts
The Mopani Tracking Team and Mopani Highway Patrol tracked and located the vehicle, which was stolen from Roodepoort in Gauteng, through a coordinated effort.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Thakeng confirmed that someone reported the car stolen in March. After the tracking company activated its system, officers quickly traced the vehicle.
South African Police Service (SAPS) teams worked closely with the tracking company. They launched a targeted search operation, which started in Burgersdorp Village within the Maake policing area.
“Through coordinated efforts and determination, we eventually found the stolen vehicle abandoned near a graveyard on the outskirts of Moime Village,” Thakeng said.
Police recovered the vehicle in good condition. However, they have not made any arrests so far.
The recovery showcases the success of cross-provincial police collaboration. However, authorities emphasize that the investigation is far from complete.
“A manhunt for the suspects is ongoing, and we urge the public to provide any information that could help with their apprehension,” Thakeng said.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with relevant information to come forward.
