A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on murder charges after allegedly stabbing her former boyfriend to death in Groblersdal, Sekhukhune District, on Saturday.
Police reports indicate that officers responded to a call regarding a murder scene and found the victim lying on the veranda. Emergency Medical Services personnel later declared him dead.
The woman, identified as the victim’s ex-girlfriend, was at the scene with a friend when police arrived.
According to reports, the victim arrived at the location and discovered his ex-girlfriend with another person.
This led to a heated argument, and during the confrontation, the woman allegedly stabbed him with a sharp object.
Victim attempts escape but collapses at scene
Despite attempting to flee the scene, the victim collapsed on the veranda due to the injuries sustained in the stabbing.
He was later pronounced dead by emergency medical responders. Authorities arrested the woman at the scene, and she now faces a murder charge.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Samuel Manala, expressed concern about the rise in violent reactions within romantic relationships.
He urged individuals facing challenges in their relationships to seek professional assistance rather than resort to violence.
“I once again warn individuals in romantic relationships to seek assistance when they encounter challenges instead of resorting to violence,” Manala said.
Police urge professionals to mediate conflicts in relationships
Manala emphasized the importance of seeking the help of relevant professionals to resolve differences in relationships, rather than allowing emotions to escalate into deadly situations.
The suspect is set to appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon, where legal proceedings will continue.
