The shooting death of a Community Policing Forum (CPF) sub-forum chairperson at the Ikemeleng informal community in Kroondal, outside of Rustenburg, has been denounced by North West police.
CPF chairperson found dead after crashing into fence
Col. Adéle Myburgh, a spokesman for the provincial police, stated that the event happened on Thursday, March 27. Sydney Mboweni, age 28, was identified as the victim.
According to Myburgh, Sydney Mboweni was discovered inside his Toyota single-cab after it had struck a fence at a nearby residence. Mboweni was found with what looked to be a head wound from a gunshot. When paramedics arrived on the scene, they pronounced him dead.
According to authorities, Mboweni recently had dinner with his girlfriend before getting into his car and driving to the police station to report a crime, according to the results of a preliminary inquiry. Gunshots were reported nearby a short while later.
