Willem Rooi, a 32-year-old man from Northern Cape, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder of his 33-year-old brother, Jan Rooi.

The incident occurred during a domestic dispute at their Raaswater home on 21 May 2024.

Fatal dispute escalates

What started as a heated argument between the two brothers tragically escalated into a violent confrontation. In the end, Willem Rooi fatally stabbed his brother.

The police were alerted immediately, and Willem was arrested on the same day. He appeared in court soon after.

Sergeant Omphile Masegela said the SAPS worked quickly to solve the case, with both the investigating officer and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) being recognized for their teamwork.
