Alleged Gang Leader Denies Hiring Hitman to Murder Police Officer.

Cape Town – Trial of Alleged Underworld Boss Continues

CAPE TOWN – Nafiz Modack, an alleged underworld gang leader, has denied hiring a confessed hitman to commit multiple murders on his behalf. Modack and 14 co-accused face a total of 122 charges, including the murder of top police officer Charl Kinnear.

Modack’s Alleged Role in Murder Plot
Modack faces serious accusations related to a string of murders. He denies instructing a state witness, referred to as Mr. A, to kill former Hawks officer Nico Heerschap, tow truck driver Richard Joseph, defense attorney William Booth, and alleged underworld figure Andre Naude.

Mr. A, who has admitted to the crimes, testified that he was hired by Modack to carry out the killings. In his statement, Mr. A provided details about his role in the murder of Heerschap’s father in a failed hit in Melkbostrand in 2019. Mr. A also claimed that co-accused Zyaad Poole directed him to kill Joseph, Booth, and Naude on Modack’s orders.

Failed Attempts and Modack’s Denial
Despite Mr. A’s attempts to murder Booth and Naude, both targets survived. Modack firmly denied giving any instructions to kill them. He expressed no motive for killing Naude, who is connected to underworld figures such as Jerome “Donkie” Booysen and the late Mark Lifman, who was killed in George.

Mr. A also confessed to firing shots at Naude’s Bellville residence on September 6, 2019, but failed to kill him. Modack claims to have known Naude only from his past role as a security head for Cape Town’s nightclubs from 2012 to 2017.

The Trial Moves Forward
Modack’s trial continues, with Mr. A’s testimony playing a crucial role in the case. As the prosecution gathers more evidence, Modack maintains his innocence and denies orchestrating any of the murders.

The trial has drawn significant attention in Cape Town, where Modack and his co-accused face life-changing charges. The outcome of this case could potentially expose the inner workings of Cape Town’s underworld as law enforcement continues its investigation into the series of murders.
