The motive behind the Gugulethu murders, which claimed the lives of four men, remains unclear. Police are actively working to uncover details about the incident. Detectives from the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are leading the investigation into the fatal shooting that occurred on Friday.

Police responded to the scene in NY 3A around 8 p.m. They found the bodies of four victims, believed to be in their twenties, each with multiple gunshot wounds.

“Crime scene experts gathered evidence, and investigators are following all available leads in order to identify those responsible for this heinous crime,” said police spokesperson André Traut. Moreover, authorities are relentlessly pursuing every lead to ensure justice for the victims.

Arrest Made in Khayelitsha Drug Bust

In a separate operation, officers from the Khayelitsha SAPS Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 46-year-old woman and seized mandrax worth an estimated R1 million.

The officers conducted a stop-and-search operation in Khayelitsha on Friday. They received a tip-off about a property allegedly used to store liquor. Upon arriving, the officers saw a woman carrying a large green bag. Upon searching, they found 10 packets containing mandrax tablets, along with four smaller packets.

“When officers counted the contents, they discovered 1,000 mandrax tablets in each of the 10 large packets. Additionally, they found 100 mandrax tablets in each of the four smaller packets,” Traut confirmed.

Community Support Leads to Success

The authorities expect the suspect to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court today on drug possession charges. Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile praised the community for its cooperation. He highlighted the critical information the community shared, which led to the discovery of the drugs and the arrest of the suspect.
