The investigation into the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court murder has taken a major turn with the arrest of two more suspects.
On April 22, 2025, police arrested Brian Booysen, 34, and Wanay Farao, 22, in connection with the shooting death of Dingalomoyo Chintso on April 8. This brings the total number of suspects to four.
Chintso, who was an accused in a court case, was shot and killed in the court lobby just before 11 a.m. Despite early reports, he was not a state witness.
Witnesses saw the shooting take place in full view of the building’s corridors. The suspects face multiple charges, including aiding and abetting gang activity, murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
Booysen also faces charges for supplying the firearms used in the killing.
Investigation links suspects to Junky Funky Kidz gang
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed that Booysen and Farao are connected to the Junky Funky Kidz (JFK) gang.
Booysen allegedly provided the firearms used in the murder, while Farao smuggled the weapons into the court. Although authorities have searched extensively, they have yet to recover the firearms.
Western Cape Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile and Deputy Provincial Commissioner Major General Preston Voskuil attended the court hearings, underscoring the case’s significance.
Ntabazalila, spokesperson for the NPA, confirmed that the state will oppose bail for Booysen and Farao.
The NPA expects more charges and arrests as the investigation progresses. The case has been classified as a Schedule 6 offense, reflecting its seriousness.
More arrests expected as investigation continues
Booysen and Farao will return to court on May 9, 2025, to secure legal representation and possibly apply for bail.
The NPA expects further arrests as the investigation develops. Booysen and Farao will appear alongside Abubaker Adams, 24, and Shireen Matthews, 35, who are also charged in the case.
Matthews, linked to a high-ranking JFK member, allegedly masterminded the hit. Authorities are prepared for more arrests and charges as the investigation continues.
